John Ormsby Obituary

John J. Ormsby, 88, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Bayonne Medical Center.  He was born in Bayonne and was lifelong resident.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Force during WWII and the Korean War.  John was a foreman for the Colgate Palmolive Company of Jersey City where he worked for 30 years before retiring.  He was an active member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Capt. P.J. Hogan Chapter #5.  He was a member of the Bayonne Memorial Day Parade committee and was a past grand marshal.  He was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Parish bingo for 30 years.  He was awarded Senior Citizen of the Year in Hudson County.
He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Anne Ormsby and his siblings Peter and his wife Barbara, Patrick and his wife Mary, Mary Antonowicz and Matthew and his wife Helen.
Beloved husband of Rose (Nee: Kita) Ormsby.  Loving father of Eileen O’Hagan and her husband Ian.  Dear grandfather of Thomas John and Michael Connor O’Hagan.  Also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph Antonowicz and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at a time to be announced from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne.  Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
