On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Anthony John Circkirillo, Jr. (Tony or Umpa), a loving husband and father of three, passed away at the age of 83 at Jersey Shore Medical Center.
Anthony had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed staying active. He loved dancing and singing, helping around the house and in the yard, and anything that kept him moving. He especially cherished long walks with his daughters and granddaughters, throwing a baseball and hitting golf balls with his son, riding his bike, and walking the dogs. He was a kind, fun-loving man who truly enjoyed life and treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was especially fond of Sunday family dinners.
Anthony was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, and raised in Little Ferry. He graduated high school in Jersey City and later raised his family in Bayonne, where he lived until moving to Pennsylvania in 1995. He eventually returned to New Jersey, settling in Toms River, which he called home until the passing of his beloved wife in 2023. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Anthony lived with his children before receiving care at All American Assisted Living in Tinton Falls.
Anthony proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 and often shared fond memories and stories from his time stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he married his wife and began work as a union laborer at Hunt-Wesson Corporation in Bayonne, where he remained until the factory closed. He later worked for the Holiday Inn, the Trust Company, and NJ Transit.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Anthony Circkirillo; his brother, Allen Circkirillo; and his beloved wife, Joan (Harris) Circkirillo.
He is survived by his son, Patrick Circkirillo and his wife, Miriam; his daughters, Jennifer Circkirillo and Colleen Dalton and her husband, Curtis; his cherished grandchildren Abby, Jackie, Casey, Amanda, and Chloe; and his great-grandchildren, Elena and Jack. He is also survived by his siblings Helen, Annie, Frank, Eugene, and Bruce, along with many loving nieces and nephews, and his extended family, including Pericles Kontos, Logan Berchtold, Grace McBride, Marsha and Kip Metzer, and Billy Popowski.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home at our new location in Bayonne (857 Kennedy Boulevard). Committal services for the family will take place at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Chapel in Wrightstown, New Jersey, on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.
While flowers are appreciated, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Anthony’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA)
