Charles S. “Chuck” Magda, 58, a lifelong Bayonne resident, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at his home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Chuck was born to parents Stanley and Patricia Magda on September 11, 1965. He grew up the youngest of two sons, attending the former Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School #11 and Bayonne High School, graduating from there with the Class of 1983.
After high school, Chuck went to work in the warehousing industry for over 20 years. He had also successfully obtained a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and had traveled to both Virginia and Wisconsin to train to become a Semi-Trailer (18-Wheeler) Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator, Level II.
Although Chuck preferred to lead a solitary lifestyle, he was an avid sports fan - especially of the New York Mets, much to his sister-in-law’s chagrin. He also often enjoyed dabbling in the stock market and playing PC video games on his home computer. Chuck was a Civil War History enthusiast and delighted in collecting various memorabilia from that time period. Another of Chuck’s prized collections was his extensive assortment of ornate/luxury Zippo lighters.
Chuck is survived by his loving father, Stanley S. Magda (better known as “Stan the Barber” to numerous Bayonne residents), his devoted brother Stanley M. Magda and sister-in-law Andrea G. Magda, his father’s long-time companion Dolores Paszek, and his aunts, uncles, many cousins, and their families. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia A. Magda.
Per Chuck’s wishes, he was cremated privately. A memorial service will be held at S. Fryczynski and Son Funeral Home, 32-34 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, NJ on January 10, 2024 between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Chuck's memory to the American Heart Association. https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give
