Edmund J. Matan, 73, passed away at his home in Bayonne on Monday, September 28, 2020. He was born and raised in Bayonne and was lifelong resident. Edmund served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the past president and organizer for the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 151 of Bayonne.
Edmund was a contract speciallist at the Military Ocean Terminal Bayonne for over 25 years and later was a terminal supervisor for the International Terminal Operators of Port Newark.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ann ( Modeshefsky) Matan and his brother Richard Matan.
Beloved husband of Deborah (Cerbone) Matan. Dear son-in-law of Angelina Cerbone. Cherished uncle of Ed & Denise, Jennifer & Richie, Debra & James, Francine & Eddy, Samantha, Michael and Melissa and great-uncle of Richard, James, Dean, Edward, Vivian, Jeremy, Jackson and Autumn. Also survived by his sister-in-law Marilyn Miller and her husband John and brother-in-law of Frank Cerbone and his wife Debbie.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Religious services will be at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by Military Funeral Honors. Cremation will be private.
