Edward V. Basta, 86, of Bayonne passed away on January 18, 2013 in Florida. Born in Brooklyn, NY.. Ed lived in Bayonne for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from World War II who served in Europe. Ed was very talented and worked as a tool designer / engineer for ADT. He served as Committee Chairman for Bayonne Boy Scout Troop 19, and also was a past member of the O.L. Mt. Carmel Parish Council, as well as being involved in other church organizations.
The family man, Edward was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Helen [ nee: Wojcik ] and his son Henry Basta. Surviving are his sons Richard Basta of Caldwell, N.J. and his wife Robyn, and two daughters, Christine Peters of Bayonne and her husband David, and Debra Kocak of Coconut Creek, Fl. Edward had seven grandchildren Gwendolyn, Stephanie, Briel, Evan, Erica, Rachel and Kim, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Anna Ortolano and Florence Potocek.

Visitation Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Wednesday , 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne. Private Cremation to follow.
