Eleanor Lomnicky (Nee: Rendek), 78, passed away at home in Naples, Florida, on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was born, raised and a lifelong resident of Bayonne. Eleanor was a graduate of the Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing, which led to a long career, and began at Bayonne Hospital and continued as a school nurse for the Bayonne Board of Education at the #7 School, Midtown School and Bayonne High School. Eleanor had a love for sports and was an All State basketball player for Holy Family Academy. She also coached basketball and softball for the #7 School, and she was a member of the NJEA.
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Harriet Rendek, and her brother Stephen Rendek Jr.
Loving mother of Lori Lomnicky and John “Jay” Lomnicky and his wife, Rebecca, and dear grandmother of Julian and Eloise. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, October 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the S. Fryczynski & Son funeral home at our new location, 857 Kennedy Boulevard, Bayonne, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, NJ Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
