Frank Pirkowski, 87, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, N.J., passed away at his home on Saturday, July 20, 2013.
He worked for PSE&G as a mechanic at the Harrison Gas Works for 40 years. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a 50 year member of the Mt. Carmel Lyceum and bowled in the Lyceum intra club league as well as the Friday night catholic league. He served as an Usher at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for over 40 years and he was a member of the American Legion Post 19 of Bayonne.
He was predeceased by his sisters Tillie Strosky, Helen Kaminski and Claire Lapinski and his son in law Frank Sweeney.
Beloved husband of Marion (Nee: Sowinski) Pirkowski. Loving father of Joan Borinski and her husband John and Denise Sweeney and her companion Jack Thompson. Dear grandfather of Michael, Colleen and Erin Sweeney. Cherished brother of Stephen Pirkowski and his wife Gisela and Edward Pirkowski. Also survived by his sister in law Evelyn Gniazdowski and brother in law William Lesiak and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home, 32-34 East 22ND Street, Bayonne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers donations to the Bayonne Visiting Nurse Assn. 325 Broadway, Bayonne, N.J. 07002.
