Joan (Gerken) Schlenker

Joan Schlenker (Nee: Gerken), 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was born in Jersey City and resided in Bayonne her entire life until moving to Brick 16 years ago.  Joan was a liscensed practical nurse recieving her degree from the Bayonne School of Nursing.  She worked for Pollack Hospital, Bayonne Hospital and finished her career at Greenville Hospital in Jersey City.She was a former member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Bayonne and was an active communicant at Brick Presbyterian Church.  She was a life member of the Bayonne Chapter of Deborah Hospital.
She was predeceased by her mother Marion Gerken and her sister Marion Americk.
Beloved wife of 53 years to Harold E. Schlenker.  Loving mother of Donna Gizzi and her husband Joseph.  Dear grandmother of Nicole and Samantha Gizzi.  Cherished cousin of Dorothy Devaney, Carol Horvath, John Schmidt, Beverly Schipano, Carol Sprague and John Krainert.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home, 32-34 East 22nd St., Bayonne.  Religious services will be held at 3:00 p.m.  Interment will be on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the State of N.J. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, New Egypt.
