John Wernicki, 92, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home in Bayonne.
He was a lifelong resident of Bayonne. He was an owner and operator of the Broadway Bus Owners Association. He began work for his father at the company at the age of 19 and over the years was involved in all aspects of the business. He also owned Bay Shore Charter Bus Company which is currently operated by his son John. He served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum, Polish American Home, Polish National Alliance and the Sons of Poland of Bayonne.
He is predeceased by his wife Anna (Rybnikar) Wernicki, his sisters Stella Wernicki and Mary Saffron and his nieces Barbara and Estelle Saffron.
He is survived by his son John Wernicki. Dear brother of Edward Wernicki. Cherished uncle of Arlene Porter.
Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home, Bayonne. Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
