Marion (Sowinski) Pirkowski

Marion Pirkowski (Nee: Sowinski), passed away at home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Born in Bayonne she was lifelong resident. Marion was a cargo expediter at the Naval Base in Bayonne where she worked for 30 years. She was active years ago with the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel PTA and the women’s bowling league. Marion enjoyed going to restaurants , playing bingo, watching the N.Y. Yankees and trips to Atlantic City. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank Pirkowski, her parents Stanley and Mary (Fiolek) Sowinski, her siblings Joseph Sowinski (Dorothy), Eleanor Jakubik (Henry) and Dorothy Lesiak (William) and her son-in-law Frank Sweeney. Loving mother of Joan Borinski and her husband John and Denise Sweeney and her companion Jack Thompson. Dear grandmother of Michael, Colleen and Erin Sweeney. Cherished sister of Evelyn Gniazdowski and her late husband Stanley. Also survived by her brother-in-law Stephen Pirkowski and several nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass Monday, 10:00 a.m. from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne.
