Thomas Midrano, 93, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Genesis Health Care in Westfield.  He was born in Liverpool England and came to the United States as a child.  He resided most of his life in Rahway. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII where he saw combat in the Battle of the Bulge.  He received the American Theatre Service Medal, Euro-African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.   He was a shipping clerk in the truck and coach division of the General Motors plant in Elizabeth for over 35 years.  After retirement he continued working as a crossing guard in Rahway for 10 years.  Thomas was an avid runner who enjoyed competing in marathons especially the Jersey Shore Marathon.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Carmella (Nee: Cibrian) Midrano, his brother Lawrence Midrano and his son-in-law Jim Hanson.

Loving father of Jacklyn Hanson, Susan Bechelli and Thomas Midrano.  Dear grandfather of Corey and his wife Samantha, Jamelyn and her husband Brian, Jennilyn, Christopher and his wife Jacqueline, Jonathan and his wife Maria and Hailey; great-grandfather of Thomas, Anthony, Lincoln and Elizabeth.  Devoted brother of Florence Drukas.  Private cremation services were arranged by the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home, Bayonne.  His ashes will be interred with his wife at Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway.
