Wanda (Myskajtys) Szmerda

Wanda Szmerda (Nee: Myskajtys), 94, passed away at home on Friday, February 26, 2015. She was born in Jersey City and was a lifelong Bayonne resident. She built radio's for U.S. military airplanes during WWII. Wanda was a seamstress for many local Bayonne factories and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker's Union. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony J. Szmerda and her siblings, Frank and George Myskajtys and Helen Robinson. Loving mother of Carole Arecchi and her husband Vincent, Ronald Szmerda and his wife Elaine and Theresa Szeleski. Dear grandmother of Justin and his wife Gillian, Lauren, Jeffrey and his wife Heather, Lauren and her husband Adam, Cassandra and her husband Christopher and Melissa. Cherished great-grandmother of Logan, Jackson, Emmett and Waylon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the S. Fryczynski & Son Funeral Home, Bayonne. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the parish of St. John Paul II, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
