Zygmunt Kurasz

Zygmunt “Ziggy” Kurasz, 87, of Lynchburg, died Monday, May 29, 2023.  He was the husband of the late Wanda Kurasz for 65 years.  He was born on December 22, 1935, in Poland to the late John and Mary Bondarowicz Kurasz.
He is survived by his son Alex Kurasz and his wife, Stasia; his daughter -in-law Linda Kurasz; five grandchildren: Daniel and his wife, Stephanie, Jennifer and her husband, Justin Duma, Anthony, Jr., Michael and his partner, Melissa Sanzo, and Steven; a great-granddaughter Melanie; and two sisters, Teresa Groc and Wanda Kurpiewski and her husband John.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony.
Ziggy immigrated to the United States with his family in February of 1963, settling in Bayonne, N.J.  He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.  He served in the Soviet Military from 1955-1957 and was a tailor making Officers Uniforms for the unit he served.  After immigrating to the United States he worked in manufacturing and assembly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
